Lockdown becomes more restrictive and we become very grateful to have a backyard. My mother in law Anne’s decision to plant flowers instead of two beds of winter veg brings some bright new subjects. I buy a close up lens to bring some variety to my garden pictures. It’s tricky to master. When it works the results are satisfying, if rather generic. On the other side of the country my brother and his partner welcome their first son and I wonder when I’ll get to meet him.
